Bella Paws - doggy daycare and puppy creche
Daycare for dogs in Fobbing, Essex

The first modern Doggy Daycare Centre originated in New York in 1987. Since then its popularity has grown and grown and doggy daycare centres all over the world are now in great demand. They provide a cage-free environment for dogs to play, interact and socialise under the supervision of trained staff/team members and all in a safe and controlled environment. The benefits to doggy daycare are that dog owners can continue with their busy work and family schedules and are happy to know their dogs are being exercised and stimulated on a daily basis during their absence.

About us and our daycare facilities

Our experience and knowledge in dog training and behaviour gives us a very good understanding of how dogs interact with each other and in large groups. All dogs need socialisation to help them cope with modern day to day life. When we talk about socialisation this can be human interaction, dog interaction, habituation is also vital such as introducing them to new experiences, smells and environments, car journeys, trips to the vets. Without the appropriate socialisation dogs can become nervous, anxious and even scared of anything around them, even a walk can suddenly become a scary experience for your pup/dog.

socialisation in our doggy daycare can help build confidence, safe play and interaction with other friendly dogs. It provides mental stimulation and physical activities for your dog to enjoy and all in a safe and controlled environment.

Set within seven acres, our doggy daycare provides a safe, yet fun environment for your dog in a lovely rural location with easy access to the A13. Based in Thurrock, we hope to provide a much needed service where local dog owners can look forward to bringing their dogs with an experienced team of trained professionals.

Our aim
Is to ensure your dogs enjoy a fun filled day with lots of socialisation to encourage safe interaction with other friendly dogs, cuddles and attention from our experienced team and lots of mental stimulation during their play day. We do encourage good manners and give guidance while in our care, this can include gate, door and other basic manners such as sit, come, down, wait and more.
Our doggy daycare can also help build confidence in shy, timid or fearful dogs. When interaction between dogs is handled gradually and in an encouraging and confident way, it can become a positive experience and the more we build positive experiences the more confident your dog will become.

We base your dogs play day on your dogs age, energy levels and individual needs.

Dogs are supervised at all times and never left alone. Daycare can help with behavioural problems in the home such as unwanted chewing, barking, digging, stress and other anxiety problems associated with being left alone or on their own for long periods of time. This is also helpful for dogs who may be suffering from separation anxiety or puppies and older dogs who are unable to be left for long periods.

Our facilities
With safe and secure facilities such as our large indoor area for those rainy days and three outdoor play areas, one acre natural grass paddock, an adventure playground and an artificial grass paddock complete with drainage which will keep your dogs totally mud free during the winter months, as well as a further 4.5 acres to run around in. We have climbing frames, tunnels, water pools for splashing around in and keeping dogs cool in the summer months, balls and ball pools, toys, trees, nice comfy clean sofas to lay on, plenty of dog beds and blankets, relaxing zone and lots lots more, we are sure your dogs will LOVE you for choosing our doggy daycare and best of all, you will come home to a happy, content and tired dog.

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all dogs in our care, all we ask is:

  • Your dog must attend an initial assessment to ensure they are suitable for our doggy daycare.
  • Your dog is up to date with vaccinations, kennel cough and follow a flea control program.
  • Your dog must attend daycare a minimum of once a week to register for our daycare. Holidays an exception, terms and conditions apply.
  • We reserve the right to turn away any dogs that are unsuitable for doggy day care or are unwell on arrival.
  • We welcome dogs of all ages. We do prefer male dogs to be neutered however, puppy’s and younger dogs are an exception as long as they are well behaved. We do not accept un neutered Male dogs over 1 year of age. We do not accept male dogs who are intended for, or are used for breeding. Bitches do not need to be spayed; however they are unable to attend day care while in season.
  • T&C’s must be filled in and signed before attendance to our doggy daycare facilities.
We have a strict 48hr cancellation policy in place.

Puppies up to 6 months of age can be fed during the day. Puppies that need feeding are fed alone. Food must be provided by the owner. Puppies are rested for an hour after feeding.

Please read information on BLOAT or GDV.

Why do we recommend your pup/dog(s) attend daycare a minimum of once a week?

We recommend a minimum of one day a week, this is because one human day is equivalent to 7 days for a pup/dog, attending one day a week will ensure your pup/dog benefits fully from their experience here with us.
If you have chosen daycare for your dog for socialisation or confidence reasons, we do advise that your dog attends at least two days a week at first to fully see the benefits from their experience.

Your welcome to come and view our facilities. To book an appointment or for further information please call 07894 555705 or 07507 601106

Please note

Our daycare is open 8am-5pm weekdays. Collection and drop off is available upon request and is charged accordingly depending on your location.

Sadly not all dogs are suitable for doggy daycare. When assessing dogs for their suitability we look at many aspects of a dogs behaviour such as body language and how they interact with other dogs. It’s extremely important to our team that dogs attending daycare have an enjoyable experience. We are highly experienced and trained in dog body language and can read subtle signs that tell us how a dog is feeling, signs that less experienced doggy daycares may not pick up on.

All puppies and dogs must attend a 2hr assessment and temperament test to asses their suitability for our daycare & puppy crèche.
We reserve the right to turn dogs away that are not suitable for daycare. This is not a reflection on your dog at all. All dogs are amazing, it’s simply that we feel that your dog may not be able to cope in large group of playful dogs. Your dogs health and well-being and the health and well-being of all dogs in our care are our main concern.

Due to the busy nature of our daycare we are unable to offer half days.

DOGGY DAYCARE AT IT’S VERY BEST ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Our Puppy Crèche was introduced in 2019 and has been a huge success and we are happy to say we are 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Rated.

We are excited about our puppy crèche and so will your puppie 😃

Specifically designed for all your puppy’s needs. There are lots of exciting experiences for your puppy to enjoy such as climbing, searching, paddling in a pool, playing in a ball pool, sand to hide things in, mentally stimulating games to play and lots more.

We also have a sleep area so puppy’s can rest during their stay. We can give a lunchtime feed if needed for puppies up to 6 months of age.

Puppy play with one of our experienced team allows your puppy to learn to socialise with other puppies, junior and older dogs in our care in a safe manner and in a safe environment.
We do prefer to encourage play with dogs of all ages and sizes. It’s important for puppies to learn how to communicate with more experienced junior and adult dogs, such as body language, when to stop play and lots more. Sadly puppies can’t teach each other the vital cues and manners they need to learn.
We also recommend mixing dogs of all sizes so puppies don’t become fearful of larger dogs. Larger dogs will naturally handicap themselves to be able to play and interact with smaller and younger dogs.

Puppy Play Area

Puppies have their own outdoor play section with artificial grass, play items and beds to lay on, an area which is fully covered to allow plenty of shade and ideal for rainy days and a larger area where they can greet adult dogs safely with barriers. Both areas are connected to an indoor area for puppies with further play equipment, sofa and puppy sized beds. They are able to see and say hello to our adult dogs in a safe manner so they can learn to become familiar with our older dogs and to allow puppies to interact safely at a safe distance. Puppies also have access to our larger artificial grass paddock once or twice a day which they all love to run around.

This service is available for puppy’s as soon as they have had their injections (Roughly 12-14 weeks of age) and are allowed to go out, up to 6-10months depending on the breed and size your puppy will become.

After attending our Puppy Crèche your puppy will be able to join in with our adult daycare dogs, which I’m sure they will love, with bigger climbing frames and 2 larger paddocks to play in. Male dogs will need to be neutered before being integrated with the adults.

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all puppies in our care, all we ask is:

  • Your puppy will need to attend an initial assessment of 2hrs, with a follow up 4 hour session to ease the gently into our puppy crèche.
  • Your puppy has had all their initial vaccinations, kennel cough (is optional but advisable) and follow a flea control program. Proof of which must be given and kept on file.
  • We reserve the right to turn away any puppies that show any signs of being unwell upon arrival. If your puppy does have diarrhoea or sickness they will not able to attend until they have seen a vet.
  • Puppies must attend our daycare at least once a week to register for our puppy crèche. Holidays are an exception, T&C’s apply.
  • We welcome puppies up to 12 months of age, depending on the breed and size of your puppy. Male puppies will need to be neutered as they grow, we can help you with choosing the right for this to be done but this is usually around 12months for small/medium dogs and 18months for larger dogs, depending on breed and size your dog will become. However, if we feel young males need to be neutered sooner we will advise you of this and as to the reasons why but we understand it is each clients own personal choice. Bitches do not need to be spayed; however they are unable to attend daycare while in season.
  • Puppies are supervised at all times and never left alone.
  • T&C’s and forms must be filled in and signed before attendance to our doggy daycare & puppy crèche facilities.
  • We have a strict 48hr late cancellation policy in place.

Your welcome to come along and view our facilities (no viewing aloud during Covid lockdown) To book an appointment please call 07894 555705 or 07507 601106

Please note

We are closed Bank Holidays, Good Friday, Easter Sunday & Easter Monday and for two weeks over Christmas and New Year.

Due to the busy nature of our daycare adhoc days are subject to availability.

We feel dog training is not just about your puppy/dog learning to sit or lay down on command, it’s so much more. It’s about understanding what your puppy/dog is trying to communicate with you, and for you be able to give them the best start in life and build a friendship and bond that will last a lifetime. We like to encourage all family members to get involved with your puppy/dogs training, this is key to ensuring everyone, two legs and four has positive experiences that will help set the foundations for a life long friendship with your new bundle of fun.

Having over 20years experience in dog training and behaviour we have seen many changes in the approach to dog training in that time. Having a huge understanding of how dogs communicate with other dogs and humans is the bases for all modern day training techniques. I have trained all of my own dogs past and present. I was very young when I trained my first dog Muffin, not at a dog training school but in my parents home and garden and all with a little imagination. I trained Muffin to do countless tricks and even agility made up of buckets, pieces of wood and ramps, all based on my horse riding background. We were fortunate to have 18yrs with Muffin.

We enjoy teaching and watching owners and dogs confidence grow as their knowledge expands throughout their dog training journey. Puppies and dogs are so willing to please and all for a treat or two, a toy or even just a fuss and good boy/girl. Most importantly, our dog training is about having fun and building lots of positive experiences between owners and their dogs. When we understand our dogs there are no limits to what you can achieve together.
We like to guide clients through this process in a positive way of teaching and with an understanding of how their dogs learn and read us. Helping owners to avoid negative and harsh handling, which can lead to a puppy/dog shutting down and being unable to learn or process what we are asking of them.

Our experience is endless, personally I have completed a variety of dog training and Behavioural courses including Initial, Intermediate, Advanced and Advanced Plus with Richard Clark (A judge on the TV series Dog Borstal) and owner/head trainer of Barking Mad dts and the very well known Mic Martin (Dog Borstal). This was the foundation of my training, the course coverered all different methods of dog training and behavior, from basic pet dog training, clicker training, obedience, gun dog training, working trials, dog agility and other dog sports, assistance dogs, sniffer dogs and lots more.
My personal journey with dogs began many years ago, from the age of just 7. I have a real passion for gun dog breeds, Flatcoated Retrievers in particular which i have had the pleasure of owning and training for over 30years, they are such a wonderful breed but don’t be fooled, they can be stubborn and will certainly give a novice owner a run for their money. I have trained all my own flatties in competitive obedience, agility, flyball, working trials, searches, tracking, service dog, tricks and much much more. They are a very versatile in their ability and problem solving.

As with all dog training and behaviour techniques we never stop learning. We are always looking for ways to further educate ourselves by attending workshops and courses with some of the UK and International best known trainers and behaviourists. This allows us to continue to keep up to date with CPD’s, while allowing us to expand our knowledge and have a greater understanding of how we can help dogs and owners grow together. We are here to help you on your journey.

Tina - Owner, Dog Training & Behaviour

Bella Paws doggy daycare and puppy crèche (originally dog walking & pet services) was established 17 years ago when dog walking was a relatively new career for many people. It all started when Kevin and I were looking for home boarding for our own two Flatcoated Retrievers Tasha and Hugo. After using kennels in the past the idea of putting them in kennels again was just unthinkable. We searched for a while to find an alternative solution and came across home boarding, but we found it difficult to find someone to look after our dogs in the way we would like and whom we could put our trust in. Realising there was a need for a warm, welcoming and homely place for dogs to stay, we opened our home to home boarding and with my experience as a dog handler, trainer and behaviourist we could provide other pet services such as dog walking, dog training and holiday feeding for cats.

In 2014 we opened our Doggy Daycare Centre and in 2019 we opened our Puppy Crèche which has been a huge success.

We know how important our dogs are to us, and that gives us a very good understanding of what our clients expect from us when caring for their puppies & dogs. We feel honored that our clients entrust their pet dogs into our care and we in return can provide them with peace of mind that we will look after their pet dogs as if they were our own.

With such a variety of services to offer, we feel that we can provide our clients with everything they need for their pet dogs.

Meet the team

We have a great team of ladies and one guy who all have at least one thing in common, their love for all animals and they are all very passionate about their work. Each member brings their own unique experience with them to the team, these range from working at veterinary clinics, experienced dog handlers and all members must have many years experience of owning and caring for their own pets, experience working in daycare or Level 3 Animal Management.

Each team member goes through an interview process, which consists of finding out about the person, their pets past and present and any relevant experience they may have. They also get to meet my dogs and if they haven’t met a flattie (Flatcoated Retriever) before then be warned, they like kisses. They will then be shortlisted to join us at our doggy daycare to assess their handling, knowledge and experience of being around dogs. And finally all of our team members must be DBS checked, Insured and first aid trained.

Each member is given full training and further training sessions are held to help them learn and understand about dog body language and to have an essential understanding of how dogs behave on their own and in groups. First aid training can also be given.

All of our pet dogs are different and it’s important that each team member spends a considerable amount of time with our clients dogs, as this helps to give them a deeper understanding of their behavioural traits, which is an important skill when working with dogs and other animals.

Our Dogs - Hudson, Brinkley & Tilly (Flatcoated Retrievers)

Love n Licks 💜

Left to Right: Buster, Chloe, Hudson and Brinkley. RIP Chloe and Buster 😢

Hudson has a very lovable cheeky character. He is very willing to work and loves to please. Hudson settled into our home life very quickly and learnt the ropes from his older brother Hugo (sadly no longer with us) and big sister Chloe. He loves to be around humans and enjoys playing with Chloe, Brinkley and all the dogs that come and stay with us at Bella Paws. Hudson has learnt many aspects of dog training, a very fast learner and a very special boy.

Brinkley is a Liver Flatcoat and a new chapter for us as we have always had black flatties. Brinkley is young and full of character just like his older brother. Brinkley enjoys agility, flyball, gun dog training and swimming. He’s a real character..

Tilly is our puppy who I’m looking forward to teaching lots of training and tricks to, oh what fun we will have. Tilly will be joining our daycare and looking forward to meeting you all very soon.

I would like to take this opportunity to Thank you for visiting our website and look forward to meeting you and your pet dogs very soon.
